JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) recorded 85,792 foreign tourists (tourists) using train services during July 2025, making it the highest monthly number record in the last two years.
"The train is no longer just a mode of transportation, but has become part of the travel story itself," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba quoting Antara.
Anne said this significant increase helped encourage the accumulation of foreign tourists from January to July 2025 to 363,864 people.
This figure is up 10.23 percent compared to the same period in 2024, which is 330,088 customers.
The positive trend looks consistent throughout the year, with the highest spike occurring in July, surpassing previous months' achievements such as January (44,502 customers), February (39,791 customers), March (33,922 customers), April (48,324 customers), May (54,069 customers), and June (57,464 customers).
According to Anne, the increasing interest of foreign tourists using trains cannot be separated from the combination of travel comfort, as well as a stunning visual experience when crossing various distinctive landscapes.
"Many foreign tourists enjoy the view of rice fields, mountains, seas on the northern route of Java Island, to rural life from behind the train window," said Anne.
Furthermore, Anne said KAI continues to strengthen its role in supporting the tourism sector through safe, comfortable, and integrated intercity rail services.
