JAKARTA PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) together with its affiliate, PT Gagas Energi Indonesia (PGN Gagas) will build LNG HUB as an effort to strengthen natural gas services beyond pipelines for the Bandung region and its surroundings.

Bandung is considered to be an area that has not been reached by the gas pipeline network, so it is suitable to serve its energy needs using the beyond pipeline scheme, namely CNG and LNG.

LNG HUB is a milestone for Gagas in expanding LNG utilization. Hopefully it can add to Gagas' optimism to work on the Bandung natural gas market and other areas in southern western Java. So, LNG and CNG utilization can complement each other to meet energy needs according to consumer characteristics," explained PGN President Director Arief S. Handoko, Wednesday, August 6.

Arief added that the use of compressed natural gas such as CNG and LNG offers competitive efficiency and costs compared to other fossil fuels.

The savings that can be obtained for business actors are around 10 25 percent.

In addition, it helps reduce government energy subsidies because CNG and LNG are sourced from within the country.

President Director of Gagas Santiaji Gunawan revealed that the LNG HUB to be built has a capacity of around 15,000 MMBTU which is equivalent to around 0.5 BBTUD or is projected to be able to serve the needs of 15,000 MMBTU customers per month.

"Gagas together with PGN are committed to continuing to develop the gas energy ecosystem through innovation and development of strategic infrastructure such as SPBG, CNG HUB, and LNG HUB. We are optimistic that the addition of this LNG HUB will further strengthen the supply of natural gas, especially for horeka in the city of Bandung and its surroundings," explained Santiaji.

PGN Gagas also collaborated with PT Nusantara Regas (NR) in order to develop the LNG breaking bulking service business, transportation media for LNG transportation (isotank, type-C tank, etc.) as well as gas from regasification.

Another potential collaboration is the development of the LNG buying and selling business and the analysis market for the small LNG business chain infrastructure, so it is hoped that the use of LNG in the community will be wider.

Currently, PGN Gagas has managed Mobile Refueling Unit (MRU) which transports CNG and LNG in Bandung for customers.

MRU is the only MRU in Bandung whose quality has been tested.

The Gaslink cylinder used has also been certified according to standards and licensing from the government, along with a certified operator from the Manpower Office.

PGN Gagas also invited horeka industry players in Bandung to take advantage of various energy solutions from Gaslink for business efficiency and a positive contribution to environmental conservation towards the Net Zero Emission target.
