JAKARTA - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) officially handed over the work of the Motion Tank Restoration Project 42-T-301 E/G/H at the Balongan Refinery Unit VI owned by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional through the Handover Operational Acceptance (OA) ceremony. This handover is an important milestone in the journey of a strategic EPC project that supports strengthening national energy security.

As the contractor with the largest EPC job portfolio in Indonesia, WIKA continues to support the achievement of the Government's National Priority Program as stated in Asta Cita, especially in the pillar of Energy Security and Natural Resources-based industrial Downstreaming. This commitment is realized through the implementation of this project which includes the construction of four new Gasoline tank units, each with a capacity of 29,000 m3, equipped with a pipeline system, supporting facilities, and high standard safety equipment.

With a contract value of Rp279.3 billion, this project not only increases refinery storage capacity, but also strengthens the reliability of the distribution system and increases the operational efficiency of the refinery. The addition of this capacity is expected to support increased production, optimizing refinery margins, and maintaining a stable energy supply for the DKI Jakarta and Banten areas, which are the main supply areas of RU VI Balongan.

The President Director of WIKA, Agung Budi Waskito, said that the Balongan Mogas Tank Restoration project is an important part of efforts to strengthen national energy infrastructure.

"Through the application of technology and sustainability principles, this project is expected to increase efficiency, security, and reliability of Indonesia's storage and energy distribution systems," he said, Monday, July 28.

During the development process, WIKA empowers more than 400 local workers and MSMEs as a tangible form of commitment to social impacts and community empowerment. This shows that the benefits of the project are not only felt through physical output, but also through improving the welfare of the community around the project.

As part of the strategy to improve quality and efficiency in implementation, WIKA also relies on the engineering in-house team and implements a digital approach through Building Information Modeling (BIM). The use of this technology not only accelerates the construction process, but also increases the accuracy and transparency in project management. The success of this project also encourages the achievement of ESG rating risk of 53/100 from S&P Global which is the best achievement in the national construction industry. This shows WIKA's seriousness in implementing the sustainability principle in each project work.

The completion of the Operational Acceptance phase marks the readiness of the Balongan Mogas Tank facility to start full operation, and is the first step towards the Final Acceptance phase which is scheduled for July 2025. This success is also the fruit of a close collaboration between WIKA, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI), and all stakeholders involved in realizing this national strategic project.

For information, this project received an award from KPI for achieving 243,000 working hours of safety without work accidents, as a form of appreciation for WIKA's high commitment to maintaining work safety and health. In addition, this project also received recognition in the implementation of On Time, On Budget, On Scope, On Risk, and On Return (OBOOSOR).

This reflects the success of various important aspects in a measured and responsible manner, so that it is designated as a pilot project for the implementation of similar projects within the KPI.
