JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) targets the Yogyakarta "Bawen Toll Road to start operating gradually in the beginning of the second quarter of 2026.

Currently, two of the six toll road sections have entered the active construction stage.

Section 1 which connects Sleman to Banyurejo along 8.8 kilometers (km) recorded construction progress of 80 percent.

Meanwhile, Section 6 which stretches from Ambarawa to Bawen along 5.2 km has reached a progress of 75.7 percent.

"Our target is that Sections 1 and 6 can be completed in December 2025, we also strive to function during the Nataru holiday," said Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works Wilan Oktavian in a written statement, Monday, July 28.
