Great! Kebumen Giant Shrimp Camp Harvests 327 Tons Of Vaname Shrimp Until July 2025

Regional-based shrimp farming pond (BUBK) belonging to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) in Kebumen, Central Java, recorded total vaname shrimp production of 327 tons as of July 2025.

This figure shows positive performance since it was inaugurated in March 2023 by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

For information, the BUBK Kebumen is the largest modern shrimp pond in Indonesia with a potential land area of 100 hectares.

Director General of Fisheries Budi Daya TB Haeru Rahayu said the increase in vaname shrimp harvest was due to the application of Good Fish Cultivation (CBIB) methods according to standards.

"We can see the results for ourselves, their productivity continues to increase over time. In the future, we hope to continue to achieve the target," Tebe said as quoted from his official statement, Thursday, July 24.

Tebe assessed that the shrimp produced by the BUBK Kebumen is safe to consume and residual antibiotics free, because the entire cultivation process applies the CBIB principle.

"This is proof that fishery cultivation activities can be carried out in a healthy and responsible manner," he said.

He also invited business actors to imitate the cultivation approach applied at the Kebumen BUBK. By implementing the CBIB, said Tebe, shrimp products will be more accepted by the market because their quality is guaranteed.

"This BUBK Kebumen module proves that environmentally friendly and sustainable cultivation in accordance with the principles of the blue economy is not impossible," he explained.

Meanwhile, Kebumen Regent Lilis Nuryani said, the operation of the Kebumen BUBK absorbs many local workers and improves the regional economy.

"Most of the workers in the BUBK Kebumen area are local communities. This is also a place of learning for cultivators who want to apply sustainable and environmentally friendly shrimp farming," he said.

Meanwhile, during the period from January to July 2025, the Kebumen BUBK has contributed to Regional Original Revenue (PAD) through the payment of levy fishery levy levy levy (TPI) payments of IDR 402.4 million.

Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that the development of the BUBK Kebumen modeling was a derivative of the blue economy program initiated by the KKP. This program is a pilot for productive, modern and environmentally friendly shrimp farming.
