Airlangga Encourages The Development Of The Temasek Holdings Investment Portfolio In Indonesia

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto received a visit from the Chairman of Singtel and Temasek Board Members Lee Theng Kiat on Friday, July 18. During the meeting, Coordinating Minister Airlangga appreciated Temasek's support for Indonesia's economic development and encouraged Temasek to continue to expand in the country.

"Temasek has an important role for businesses in Indonesia, especially through capital injection schemes in several Indonesian start-up companies. The government is ready to facilitate steps to increase Temasek's investment in the country," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga in a written statement, Saturday, July 19.

Responding to this, Chairman Lee expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian government for the support provided in running a business in Indonesia.

Indonesia is still an important partner in developing the Temasek investment portfolio in the Southeast Asia region. In the future, Temasek will continue to develop existing investments in Indonesia and open up other opportunities for cooperation," said Chairman Lee.

Temasek is a company that manages assets belonging to the Singapore Government which has been established since 1974. As an investment company, Temasek's portfolio is very diverse, globally covering various sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, media, technology, transportation, energy, environment, and health.

As a large investment company, Temasek also has large investments in Indonesia through its subsidiaries such as ST Engineering, Singtel, and Sembcorp in the Siloam International Hospitals, Telkomsel, Matahari Putra Prima, DBS Bank, International Olam, and Sembcorp Industries and Koleh Corporation business networks.

Airlangga further emphasized the importance of strengthening green energy cooperation and the energy transition between Indonesia and Singapore. Airlangga expressed his support for Temasek's commitment through Sembcorp Urban in early 2025 to build green industrial areas in West Java, Tanjung Sauh, and Tembesi, Batam.

Also attending to accompany Airlangga at the meeting were Deputy for Industrial, Employment and Tourism Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin.
