Sri Mulyani Reveals National Rice Production Rises, RI Becomes The Productive Country In ASEAN

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that national rice production from January to June 2025 reached 19.09 million tons, or an increase of 13.2 percent compared to the same period last year of 16.86 million tons.

According to him, this is the highest production in the last seven years, placing Indonesia as the country with the highest rice productivity in the ASEAN region.

"National rice production has been recorded as the highest in the last seven years, and this places Indonesia as a productive country in the ASEAN region. Compared to the 2024 story where we face El Nino and must take security measures through rice imports," he said at the 21st DPR RI plenary session, Tuesday, July 1.

Sri Mulyani said that with this increase, Perum Bulog's rice stock until the third week of June 2025 reached 4.17 million tons, making the stock in Bulog the highest since Bulog was founded more than 50 years ago.

He conveyed that this achievement strengthened optimism for the realization of rice self-sufficiency as an important part of the national food security program.

Sri Mulyani said that the agricultural sector, which is the pillar of national food security, recorded a high growth of 10.52 percent.

According to him, the increase in the agricultural sector is supported by reforms in the distribution of subsidized fertilizers.

"The performance of the agricultural sector is supported by increased productivity in line with the simplification of the subsidized fertilizer distribution regulations. Through this deregulation, the government guarantees farmers to get fertilizers according to the planting period," he said.
