JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) through the Indonesia Anti-Scam Center (IASC) or the Anti-fraud Center has blocked 54,544 accounts related to fraud with the value of funds that have been blocked reaching Rp315.5 billion as of June 20, 2025.

Chairman of the Secretariat of the OJK PASTI Task Force, Hudiyanto, said the total reported losses reached Rp3.2 trillion from 157,203 reports received.

The total amount of funds (losses) that have been reported is Rp3.1 trillion, and the number of reports per day is 718. You can see that the amount can be 2-3 times with the number of complaints in other countries. So it's true, this is a critical situation. Indonesia is already vigilant, it has even become concerning the number of frauds that continue to grow in the community," said Hudiyanto as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 26.

He explained that the amount of funds that were successfully blocked was still far from the total reported losses.

This is because the majority of victims reported cases of fraud more than 12 hours after the incident. About 85 percent of victims only reported after more than 12 hours of making transactions to fraudsters.

Based on report data that entered the IASC from late November 2024 to 17 June 2025, of the 156,382 number of reports, about 43.60 percent of the complainants only reported their cases after 1-7 days after the incident.

Then, 34.61 percent of the reporters only reported after 7 days later. Meanwhile, 6.37 percent reported 12-24 hours after the incident.

Hudiyanto appealed to the public to report to the IASC more quickly when they become victims of fraud. This is because the reporting time greatly determines the success of blocking funds.

"Time is a crucial factor. The sooner the report comes in, the greater the chance the funds can be saved," he explained.

Based on IASC data exposure, there are 10 types of fraud that are most reported by the public.

These include online transaction fraud, fraud by claiming to be a particular party (fake call), and fraud under the guise of investment.

In addition, there are also widespread modes of fraud that offer fake jobs, prize fraud, take advantage of social media, conduct social engineering, and phishing.

Other types of fraud that also occur are fictitious online loans and fraud through malicious application files (APK).

Meanwhile, the areas that are the most domiciled by the reporters come from West Java, DKI Jakarta, East Java, Central Java, and Banten.

This indicates that there are still many centers of fraud activity in densely populated areas, especially in Java.

Hudiyanto said that in order to accelerate the handling of fraud cases while strengthening prevention efforts, the IASC prepared a number of strategies.

First, the IASC developed the National Fraud Portal (NFP), an integrated national system to increase its response and effectiveness in the prevention and handling of scam cases.

Second, this institution will strengthen coordination with the Indonesian Police to accelerate the process of taking action against perpetrators of fraud crimes.

Third, IASC will also expand the membership and involvement of stakeholders by cooperating with digital financial industry players such as fintech operators, crypto asset traders, telecommunication operators, and pawnshop institutions.

Fourth, IASC will integrate its system with the cekrekening.id public platform so that it is easier for people to verify suspicious accounts before making transactions.

Fifth, IASC is also active in the formation of the Indonesian Chapter's Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) to strengthen international networks in eradicating cross-border cybercrime.
