JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo emphasized the importance of accelerating the issuance of Regional Road Inpres (IJD).

Dody said more than 80 percent of local governments (Pemda) who came to the Ministry of Public Works submitted requests for regional road construction, ranging from districts, provinces to inter-regional connectivity.

"We are still unable to continue because we are still waiting for the final decision in the form of an Presidential Instruction," said Dody at the Regional Infrastructure Presidential Design Coordination Meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development (IPK) office as quoted from his written statement, Thursday, June 5.

According to Dody, his party has compiled a draft Regional Road Instruction (IJD) and a priority list since the end of 2024. However, the operationalization of this program is still waiting for formal ratification from the central government.

"The Ministry of Public Works and the Coordinating Ministry for Infra has been working together since November or December 2024. Therefore, we hope that the IJD can be finalized soon," he said.

The push for the acceleration of the finalization of the IJD is in line with the direction of the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Menko GPA) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), who directly chaired the coordination meeting.

In his remarks, AHY said, infrastructure is the backbone of the success of national development.

"Infrastructure has always been the backbone of various sectors. Therefore, we continue to oversee the efforts of the technical ministry, such as the Ministry of Public Works in order to accelerate important decisions such as IJD," he said.

This acceleration is carried out to support food, energy and water self-sufficiency as directed by President Prabowo Subianto

AHY added that the IJD draft this time was the first to integrate basic infrastructure needs with national priorities in the field of food and energy.

"We want to ensure that regional road construction has a direct impact on the people. There should be no misplanning, because the community really needs decent road access, especially to support the distribution of agricultural and energy products," explained AHY.
