JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) built Rest and Service Places (TIP) or rest areas on the Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road. As of April 2025, the physical progress of this project has reached 80.06 percent.

Director of Operations III of HKI Aditya Novendra Jaya said the project, which is located at STA 23+000, consists of two rest areas.

These are each located on track A, namely from Padang to Sicincin and lane B from Sicincin to Padang.

"We ensure that the work goes according to the quality target and is completed in June," Aditya said as quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, May 28.

The Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road Rest area is a type A rest area with complete facilities, such as mosques, public toilets, clinics, workshops, gas stations, management offices, waste processing buildings to food courts that can accommodate 16 MSME tenants and one minimarket.

With the provision of tenants for MSMEs, it is hoped that it will not only help improve the economy of the people around Padang Sicincin, but also become a strategic means to introduce the culture and culinary properties of West Sumatra to visitors to rest areas.

To support the smooth mobility and comfort of toll road users, rest areas on lane A provide parking for 211 class I vehicles and 55 class II to V vehicles.

As for lane B, parking capacity is available for 210 class I vehicles and 59 class II vehicles to V.

In terms of design, this rest area has a neo vernagular architectural design that adopts Minang's local culture, precisely Minangkabau traditional house with construction using contemporary materials.

The use of modern materials is combined with typical Minang ornaments, such as crowns, bat chests, fish fins and traditional carving motifs, which are all produced by local craftsmen.

"HKI is not just building physical, but also caring for cultural heritage. To ensure that this rest area architecture can represent Minang culture, we also collaborate with Minang Ranah specialists in carrying out gajong work (plancave roof shape and towering upwards) in food court buildings," he concluded.
