JAKARTA - The Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) and PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk (Bank Muamalat) launched the Indonesian Hajj Card (KHI). The card aims to make it easier for Hajj pilgrims to carry out financial transactions in the Holy Land and in the country.

President Director of Bank Muamalat Imam Teguh Saptono said that KHI was given to prospective pilgrims who had paid for the cost of the pilgrimage (Bipih) in the year of departure.

"God willing, KHI will become a way of moving towards blessings for the pilgrims, especially in the aspect of storing and using money wisely, safely, easily, and comfortably in the Holy Land," he said in an official statement, Friday, May 23.

In the future, continued Imam, it is hoped that KHI can also be used as a means of payment for living costs for pilgrims so that Riyal's procurement costs in cash can be saved and costs become more efficient.

"KHI also makes Indonesia more in line with the provisions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which directs that pilgrims be more familiar with non-cash transactions while there," said Imam.

Imam explained that KHI can be given to prospective pilgrims who already have a portion of Hajj and KHI can also be given to customers who have carried out the pilgrimage. Because after the pilgrimage, KHI remains active and can still be used by pilgrims to transact at home or abroad.

Furthermore, Imam said that KHI, apart from functioning as an ATM and transaction tool, can also be a form of memorabilia for its users, which is not only economic but also spiritual.

"With the design of a card with the theme of the Grand Mosque, we hope that KHI can become the identity and reminder of the fifth Islamic pillars that have been perfected by the congregation," said Imam.

Imam said the launch of KHI was part of strengthening BPKH's business synergy with Bank Muamalat. The presence of KHI is also an encouraging moment in the series of commemoration of the 33rd anniversary (Milad) of Bank Muamalat.

Bank Muamalat has also registered Indonesian Hajj Cards, Indonesian Umrah Cards, as well as Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Cards to the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkum) as intellectual property assets.

"For pilgrims who use KHI in the Holy Land, cash withdrawals can be made easier at Al Rajhi ATMs with Indonesian menus and other ATMs bearing the Visa/Plus logo," he said.

Bank Muamalat also provides a cost subsidy for one cash withdrawal of IDR 20,000 and a shopping transaction subsidy in Saudi Arabia of 15 percent through a cashback mechanism of a maximum of IDR 300,000 per card per month without a minimum of spending.

KHI can be used for cash withdrawals at ATM machines and payments at EDC machines both in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, as well as in more than 200 other countries connected to Visa networks with competitive exchange rates. This card can be used for online transactions with qualified safety standards and is equipped with contactless payment technology.

In addition, continued Imam, KHI is equipped with a donation feature on the Ziswaf menu when used at Bank Muamalat ATM machines. This feature is to facilitate cardholders to donate at the best times.
