Ojol Holds A Massive Demo Tomorrow, Grab Ensures Service Continues To Run Normally

JAKARTA - Online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) and online taxis will hold a massive demonstration on Tuesday, May 20. In addition to demonstrations, ojol drivers are also compact to temporarily stop offbid services.

Responding to this action plan, Grab's Director of Mobility & Logistics Business Tyas Widyastuti said that Grab management continues to strive to build communication with ojol driver partners.

"We will continue to strive until tomorrow to open the channel as much as possible for our partners to ask directly, so that they can answer many of these questions," said Tyas during a press conference regarding the implementation of online application-based transportation services in Jakarta, Monday, May 19.

Tyas hopes that the move can minimize the impact of the mass offbid plan of ojol driver partners.

He also reminded that this offbid action will not only have an impact on the community as service users, but also MSME actors.

"So indeed we will continue to try to appeal, open channels to answer aspirations. Hopefully we can keep the impact maintained," said Tyas.

Regarding this demonstration and offbit, Tyas ensured that Grab's operations would continue as usual tomorrow, Tuesday, May 20.

Even so, Tyas reminded the public to pay attention to the point of action that could have an impact on difficulties in getting Grab services.

"(People) don't need to worry if you have trouble getting a driver, our system will automatically allocate it to other driver partners, because we know that driver partners still have to make a living tomorrow too, so we're also trying to protect them," said Tyas.

Meanwhile, the Country Government Relations Manager of InDrive Indonesia, Rona Pasaribu, admitted that InDrive is not too worried about the massive demonstration plan that will be held by ojol.

Rona admitted that InDrive had built communication with driver-partners.

The drivers stated that they were not involved in the demonstration activities that will be held tomorrow.

"The experience of previous demonstrations at InDrive has no effect, because it is very minimal from our active drivers who are active in this movement. Some explanations from the organization and the InDrive community that we have continued to smooth out in the last few months also state that they are not involved," said Rona.
