JAKARTA - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana will fix the standard operating procedure (SOP) to anticipate cases of student poisoning after eating Free Nutrition Food (MBG) again.
"So incidents like this, we then improve the SOP," he said, quoted from the Youtube channel of Commission IX of the DPR RI Channel, Tuesday, May 6.
The first improvement that BGN began to make was the selection of selective raw materials and still in fresh condition.
"We want the selection of more selective raw materials. Because this only happened in Pali where the fish were received on Friday, then put in the freezer. Then released, cooked half cooked, then put back in the freezer, then processed. Then tested (the food) is in good condition. Then we decided to choose more selective raw materials, maybe fresher, better," said Dadan.
The next step, said Dadan, is to shorten the cooking time, prepare the food, and delivery.
This aims to make the food distributed still suitable for consumption.
"We want to apply the rule that cooking time and preparation of food with delivery times are shortened because they prevent stale," he continued.
BGN will implement security protocols during the food delivery process from the SPPG kitchen to schools.
Next, limit tolerance when food is received and immediately consumed.
"We also apply the tolerance for time between foods to be received and must be consumed immediately. If you eat at 9, at 9 o'clock, you have to arrive. And no more than 15 to 30 minutes the food must be consumed immediately. So there will be no more delays," said Dadan.
Dadan said, before being distributed to school, it is mandatory to carry out organolastic tests based on appearance, aroma, taste, and texture.
"We want to implement organolastic testing obligations in schools, before this food is distributed. So, we will assign certain people to organolastic tests," he said.
Not only in terms of processing, the food managers were also treated so that BGN carried out additional training for them.
"Therefore, the Nutrition Agency has made routine food supplier programs and trainings on Saturday and Sunday. As in Cianjur, at Tasikmalaya we have gathered (food pilgrims) to be retrained. In Pali and Palembang, next week we will collect them to be retrained. This training seems to have to be carried out routinely every two months so that negligence does not occur," explained Dadan.
Mass Poisoning Cases Due To MBG Program
Dadan said the first incident occurred in Sukoharjo, Central Java, on January 13, 2025. Meanwhile, the MBG program was only launched on January 6.
As many as 40 students were affected after eating the MBG menu.
"The incident case from the first nutritious eating program, which (the case) was big, was in January 13 in Sukoharjo. This is actually technical because this is just starting (implementation). At that time, 40 students were affected because the officers identified the abnormalities in the food very quickly, so the dishes were withdrawn and replaced with eggs," he said.
The reason is that the SPPG kitchen in the area has run out of LPG so that food ingredients that are processed are late in cooking.
"So, when the cooking has been processed, it just wants to be fried, the gas runs out. That was the first incident in Sukoharjo and until now thank God it never happened again because it had been prepared better," explained Dadan.
This case occurred again in Batang Regency, Central Java, on February 17. However, this time the problem was from the beneficiaries who were late in eating food so that 60 people were affected by the incident.
"Then the incident in Batang, this cooked well and then sent on time but then at school there was an event so that the food was eaten late by the students. If you eat on time, it won't actually happen," said Dadan.

Meanwhile in Pali, 4 students were hospitalized. Dadan said, the cases of the three areas were caused by cooking food too early.
Moreover, the late distribution of food from SPPG to school.
"But both those in Bandung, those in Tasikmalaya, as well as those in Pali that have recently occurred, because the cooking is too early and not quickly delivered," he said.
