Don't Let Ex-Corruptors Return To Commit Their Crimes At The KKP

JAKARTA - The former convict in the meat import quota case is suspected of playing again in the scheme to regulate the import quota at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).

Perpetrators should not be allowed to repeat themselves.

According to the former 98 activist, Irwan Suhanto, former convicts of meat imports should not be allowed to return to being core players in the strategic business involving the basic needs of the people.

"This is a dangerous alarm. We see how ex-convicts like Suharjito still have a strong grip on the quota system. The KPK must intervene," said irwan.

Based on information, to smooth out the plan, the mode used is allegedly used by using shadow companies to manipulate the distribution and import quota of meat.

These companies are registered on behalf of close people, including crafts and relatives, in order to create an illusion of healthy business competition.

This is a real violation of ethics and law. A former convict of a similar case should not be given space again in terms of imports, especially in manipulative ways," he added.

Suharjito is suspected of being a strong person who has entered the building to control the quota playing at the KKP and the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan). Corruption cases that dragged big names such as Basuki Hariman, Suharjito, and Juard Effendi reflect a dark portrait of the relationship between entrepreneurs and power in Indonesia.

Basuki Hariman is a widely known meat import entrepreneur, dragged into a bribery case against a Constitutional Court official in order to smooth out his business affairs. He was proven to have given bribes to Patrialis Akbar, the Constitutional Justice at that time, so that the judicial review decision related to meat imports would benefit his interests.

Meanwhile, Suharjito, Director of PT Dua Putra Perkasa Pratama (DPPP), was caught red-handed by the KPK in 2020 for bribing KKP Minister Edhy Prabowo in the lobster seed export case.

He gave money in US dollars so that his company would get a lobster seed export license which should have been banned.

Then, Juard Effendi, together with Amran Hi. Mostary, was involved in the bribery case of the PUPR Ministry's infrastructure project. Juard is the Director of PT Windhu Tunggal Utama and is proven to have given money to officials of the National Road Implementation Center to win road projects in Eastern Indonesia.

The three names show how corruption is rampant in sectors that should support the welfare of the people. Money and power are used as tools to enrich themselves, damage the integrity of state institutions, and hurt public trust.

The KPK as a guard from the practice of rasuah became the focus again tested for its courage to dismantle the scandal.
