KAI Logistics Manages More Than 5.8 Million Tons Of Goods In The First Quarter Of 2025

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Logistik (KAI Logistik), a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI managed to manage as many as 5.8 million tons of goods during the first quarter of 2025.

KAI Logistics Operations Director, Heri Siswanto, said that the volume of goods management from January to March 2025 showed a fairly good trend.

"Starting the first three months of 2025, KAI Logistics has managed to manage more than 5.8 million tons of goods," he said in an official statement, Thursday, April 17.

Heri said this achievement consisted of various main commodities, including around 4.5 million tons from coal management and transportation, 708,823 fuel/BBK management, 534,762 tons from container transportation, 109,560 tons from cement transportation, and 2,826 tons from B3 waste transportation.

"As well as 14,649 tons of courier transportation services," said Heri.

Furthermore, Heri said this achievement was also inseparable from the momentum of Ramadan and Eid 2025. During this period, KAI Logistics also took part in supporting the smooth distribution of community needs by managing the delivery of more than 5,000 tons of goods.

"This number has increased by about 8 percent compared to the volume of transportation in the Eid period in 2024," he said.

Heri also explained that coal transportation was still a major contribution, with a total of 77 percent of the total transportation volume managed by KAI Logistics during the first quarter of 2025.

According to Heri, this high number cannot be separated from KAI Logistics' strategic steps in maintaining the smooth running of the national energy supply chain. One of the innovative steps taken by the company at the beginning of this year was the trial of operating the Coal Train Transportation as a form of service expansion from those that previously only handled loading and unloading processes.

We have been trying to transport the Coal Train since early 2025, for the Muara Lawai-Simpang route, using a series of trains (trainsets) consisting of 60 flat carriages with a capacity of 54 tons. This step is our initial effort in accelerating and increasing efficiency in national energy distribution," added Heri.

In addition to strengthening coal transportation services, KAI Logistics also noted important achievements through the operation of KALOG 3 which began in March 2025. KALOG 3 is here as a multimodal logistics solution designed to serve the main industrial area and the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector.

Heri said with a carrying capacity of up to 30 flat carriages (equivalent to 60 TEUs or around 1,080 tons), this service serves the Lagoa-Klari-Kalimas River strategic route.

Meanwhile, in the KALOG Express segment, KAI Logistics has cut the distribution time of goods from Bandung-Surabaya to one day through the management of KA ONS across the South. Through this strategy, KAI Logistics has succeeded in increasing daily capacity by 160 tons for round-trip trips. In addition, increasing service convenience through the presence of protection guarantees on motorcycle shipments," concluded Heri.
