Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Hadi Prasetyo said 53 units of People's Schools as a result of renovations will be opened in the new school year around June 2025.
This was conveyed by Hadi after meeting with the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf and Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo at the Ministry of Public Works office, Jakarta, Monday, April 14.
The location of the People's School is not only from the school building, but also from assets owned by institutions and the government.
"So, today we are coordinating with friends at BUMN (State-Owned Enterprises Agency) who will later be tasked with making improvements or renovations from available places, the assets we have are owned by both ministries, institutions, provincial governments and district governments," said Hadi.
Hadi said the location chosen was one that was listed as a poor area with a large population.
"We will also prioritize more in several provinces where the population is large. Especially friends whose extreme poverty is also quite large, it is in Central Java, West Java and East Java," he said.
In addition to renovating, the government will also build 147 new People's Schools.
