JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that the government considers Pertamina as one of the refinery operators which is planned to be built with a capacity of 1 jut barrel.

Bahlil emphasized that the government is preparing a plan to build its own oil refinery while maintaining the quality of oil.

"Well, regarding who we will discuss later. I think Pertamina is one of the things that we have to consider because she is a BUMN in the energy sector," Bahlil said briefly during a working visit to Cilegon, quoted on Friday, March 14.

The government has increased the capacity of oil refineries from just 500,000 barrels to 1 million barrels previously. Refineries with a total capacity of 1 million barrels per day will be built in various parts of Indonesia to ensure equal distribution and energy independence.

One of the considerations for increasing the capacity of this oil refinery is the imbalance between domestic demand and oil production. Therefore, the Government will build a fuel storage terminal with the same capacity as a refinery.

"Because we are still importing 1 million barrels per day," Bahlil explained after conducting a meeting with President Prabowo on Monday, March 10.

Bahlil said that this refinery was built in several areas such as Kalimantan, Java, Sulawesi, and Maluku-Papua so that energy equality would occur.

"We will do this in several places, both in Kalimantan, Java, Sulawesi, and Maluku-Papua so that even distribution occurs," he said.
