Deputy Minister Of Public Works For The Design Of The IKN Legislative Building Waiting For Prabowo's Approval

Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) Diana Kusumastuti said that her party had sent designs for Legislative and Judicial Buildings in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) to President Prabowo Subianto.

Diana said that a number of designs provided had been adjusted to the President's request.

"If yesterday's legislative and judicial (designed building) we had an audience, yes, to the President (Prabowo) with the Coordinating Minister for the GPA (Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono) OIKN and the Minister of Public Works. And I also invited the planners. The plan was the one who won the competition for the legislature and judiciary. We brought everything," Diana said when met at her office, Wednesday, March 12.

"If I'm not mistaken yesterday, there was a request from the President regarding the shape of the roof. What he thinks is too fancy, but has been changed and the design is quite good. And yesterday we also sent it to the President," he continued.

He added that the President also wanted a change in interior design.

Diana said Prabowo was interested in the interior design from India, which has an element in common with Indonesia.

"One more thing he wants is the interior design. His interior design yesterday he ran out of India, yes. It's good that there are elements like in Indonesia (starting from) wood, colors. And he also asked in the lobby later, right, there is a kind of museum or gallery that can show what democracy is related to. We have submitted everything, both for legislature and judiciary," he said.

According to Diana, currently, his party is just waiting for approval from the Head of State regarding the design.

"Currently, we are still waiting for his acceptance (appropriation) again. We have sent a letter, yesterday I also conveyed it to the Coordinating Minister (AHY) to find time (so that) we can explain again to the President," explained Diana.

Later, when Prabowo has approved the design, Diana said, the Ministry of Public Works will hand it over to the IKN Authority to conduct the auction.

"Well, after okay, of course this will be followed up by OIKN who will conduct the auction. OIKN will conduct an auction for implementation in 2025-2030," he concluded.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto targeted IKN to become the capital city of Indonesian politics in the second phase of development which is planned to be completed in 2028.

This was conveyed by the Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono after attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo and a number of ministers at the Presidential Palace, Tuesday, January 21.

"He targets IKN in 2028 to become the capital of politics. We are tasked with completing projects for legislative, judicial and other supporting facilities," said Basuki.

The design of the construction of the legislative and judicial complex, previously designed by the Ministry of PUPR, will be reviewed according to President Prabowo's direction.

"We together with the Ministry of PUPR and OIKN will form a design team to adjust the direction of development in the future," he added.
