JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo conducted a review of the readiness of road infrastructure in Banten Province ahead of the 2025 Eid homecoming and return flow, Saturday, March 1.

Dody asked for the readiness of the Tangerang 'Merak Toll Road infrastructure to be ensured both in supporting the smooth flow of homecoming and the return of Lebaran this year.

He appealed to the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) as the manager of the Tangerang 'Merak Toll Road to ensure that all toll road facilities are in optimal condition.

Bearing in mind, this road is one of the main routes connecting travelers to Merak Port, Banten and the surrounding area.

"Soon we will welcome the flow of homecoming and the backflow of Lebaran 2025. I ask that the readiness of the Tangerang 'Merak Toll Road infrastructure be ensured properly. Facilities in the rest area must also be optimal, including toilets, parking lots and other supporting facilities. So, it can provide comfort for travelers," said Dody as quoted from the upload on the official Instagram account @kementerianpu, Monday, March 3.

In addition to toll roads, Dody also emphasized the importance of maintaining the safety of national roads which are the main access to ports, airports, terminals and stations.

According to Dody, national roads must be in a stable condition to support the smooth flow of transportation during the homecoming period and back to Lebaran.

"Make sure the national road remains in good condition and comfortable to use. This is very important for people who travel long distances so that they feel safer and more comfortable during the trip," he said.

The Ministry of Public Works through the Banten National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) has made various efforts to improve the quality of national roads through the preservation program.

In Banten Province, there are 51 national roads with a total length of 567.9 kilometers. The level of security has reached 97.67 percent.

During the period from January to February 2025, BPJN Banten has handled 12 national roads along the northern coastal route.

Handling is carried out through patching hotmixes, cleaning drainage and making sodetan to overcome puddles.

Several roads that have been handled include access to the Merak Toll Road, Serang Highway (STA 00+015, 67+800), Cilegon City Boundary, Serang City Boundary, Tangerang City Boundary (STA 18+500-18+700, 1+600) and Cibaliung Subway, Cibaliung Cikeusik Muara Binuangeun (STA 8+500, 8+900) and Simpang Kayah (STA 2+900, 2+960, 17+100).

To deal with the flow of homecoming and the backflow of Lebaran 2025, BPJN Banten will also prepare eight Lebaran posts equipped with various supporting facilities. Each post will be guarded by two officers who work in two shifts per day.

In every Lebaran post, there will be a Lebaran Line Information Map for 2025, gadget charging facilities, K3/PPE equipment and medical equipment.

Several posts will also be equipped with Wi-Fi, CCTV, mobile toilets, rest facilities and places of worship to support the comfort of travelers.

With various preparatory steps that have been taken, the Ministry of Public Works is optimistic that road infrastructure in Banten can support the smooth flow of homecoming and back to Lebaran 2025. So, people can travel safely and comfortably.
