Trump Imposes Trade Tariffs To Several Countries, Airlangga Says He Has Not Affected Indonesia

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the trade tariff applied by the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump to Indonesia was 10 percent to 20 percent.

"Yes, if we go to Indonesia, we are already at 10-20 percent high," he told the media crew, Friday, February 28.

According to him, the trade rates applied by the United States to several countries will not have an impact on Indonesia in the short term.

"Yes, we'll see later, but not in the short term yet," he said,

Airlangga said Indonesia did not receive the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) facility, therefore, the tariff that applies between Indonesia and the United States is 10 percent to 20 percent which remains valid to date.

"We have GSP since the negotiations at Trump 1, have never entered Congress and the Senate. So that still applies, the tariff still applies to Indonesia," he said.

However, Airlangga said the government would continue to monitor its impact in the long term.
