Prabowo's Younger Brother Is Confident In 8 Percent Economic Growth In 2026

JAKARTA - Special Envoy for the President for Climate and Energy, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, is optimistic that the 8 percent economic growth target will be achieved by 2026.

"I am increasingly optimistic that we will surpass 8 percent, maybe not this year, but definitely next year," he said at CNBC Economic Outlook 2025, Wednesday, February 26.

Hashim expressed the hope of President Prabowo and the presidential circle team, namely economic growth of at least 8 percent and even exceeding that figure.

"Pak Prabowo's hope, my friends and I in the presidential circle are to surpass, we want to surpass 8 percent, we will exceed 8 percent, 8 percent is minimal," he explained.

Hashim added that this belief increased in approximately four months following the Prabowo-Gibran government.

Hashim explained that he had made various efforts, such as finding investors and meeting with businessmen and governments in various countries, including Beijing, America, Brazil, Baku, London, Qatar, and the Emirates.

In addition, according to him, one of the new programs that will help achieve this target is the free nutritious food program.

"The first is new programs that have not been included in the previous government program. The first is free nutritious food," he explained.

Hashim also explained that the additional budget of IDR 100 trillion for free nutritious food from budget reallocations will support the achievement of this target.

He emphasized that the reallocation of the budget, which is often misunderstood as a cut, is not a budget reduction, but a budget rearrangement to maximize the use of existing resources.

"With an increase of Rp. 100 trillion from the reallocation of the budget, which was previously called savings, cutting, and that caused a lot of misunderstanding, so that some students took to the streets of shouting for dark Indonesia, which did not understand and may not have been given an explanation that the Rp. 306 trillion that occurred from savings, it was not a reduction, that does not mean that the budget is reduced, it is not that there is a reallocation," he explained.
