Budget Cuts IDR 8.99 T, Ministry Of Finance Limits Ceremonial Activities And Meetings

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance's (Kemenkeu) budget was also affected by a budget cut of IDR 8.99 trillion.

This is due to the efficiency policy instructed by President Prabowo Subianto.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo's government budget efficiency policy is contained in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the State Budget and Regional Budget in 2025 and Decree of the Minister of Finance No. S-37/MK.02/2025 concerning the Efficiency of Expenditure for K/L in the Implementation of the 2025 State Budget.

"The total efficiency carried out for the Ministry of Finance in accordance with Presidential Instruction 1 of 2025 is that we must save even further Rp8.99 trillion," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati in a meeting with Commission XI DPR RI, Thursday, February 13.

Sri Mulyani said that in order to achieve this efficiency, her party would carry out several principles and strategies in accordance with Presidential Instruction 1 of 2025.

According to him, salary spending is not carried out by efficiency, but spending on goods and capital expenditures is very sharp for efficiency including events, ATK, seminars, studies, commemoration ceremonies.

Sri Mulyani said that the Ministry of Finance has an important role in collecting state revenues.

Therefore, Sri Mulyani conveyed that the budget needed to carry out important tasks is excluded from efficiency such as support for state revenues in order to support achieving revenue targets (procurement and meteral provinces, extensification of taxation, marine patrols), strategic ICT (Coretax system, SINSW, CEISA, SPAN, SAKTI), procurement of excise bands that must be provided in 2025, to the BMN insurance premium which is an obligation in 2025.

"All of that is also supported. However, we also research in detail and precision regarding the needs of the budget," he explained.

Sri Mulyani conveyed that the optimized efficiency, namely consignment and ceremonial activities such as the procurement of souvenirs, banner printing, and banners as well as consumption spending for meetings, was also abolished.

"We have completely removed the ceremonial activities, even. The procurement of souvenirs, printing banners, banners, materials, consumption for meetings, we no longer have consumption in the meeting. Education, technical guidance, offline socialization in this case," he said.

In addition, Sri Mulyani also conveyed that official travel and capital expenditures would be limited.

Furthermore, the postponement of capital expenditures, including for multi-year contracts that have not been completed this year, can still be recomposed and distorted, leading to a reduction in spending this year.

"Including power and service subscriptions, rental and building maintenance spending, as well as machine equipment that we consider not a priority," he added.
