There Has Been No One Month In Office, Director General Of Oil And Gas ESDM Achmad Muchtasyar Has Been Deactivated

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has reportedly disabled the Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) Achmad Muchtasyar.

Just so you know, Achmad has not even served as Director General of Oil and Gas for a month and was inaugurated on January 16.

When confirmed by VOI, Acting Head of the Communications, Public Information and Cooperation Service (KLIK) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Chrisnawan Anditya said that adjusting positions in an organization is a natural thing.

"As part of the organization's strong, sustainable acceleration and able to answer the challenges ahead, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has made adjustments to several high-ranking officials," he told VOI, Tuesday, February 11.

When asked about the reasons for the removal of Achmad, Chriswan did not provide an answer. However, he ensured that the appointment of new officials would be carried out by following the applicable rules.

Based on information received by VOI, Achmad was disabled on Monday 10 February 2025 night and replaced by the Director General of Mineral and Coal (Dirjen Minerba) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Tri Winarno as Acting (Plt).

For information, previously the Office of the Directorate General of Oil and Gas was searched by the Attorney General's Office on Monday, February 10.

The search carried out by investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Migas) office was related to allegations of corruption in the management of crude oil and refinery products of PT Pertamina (Persero).

"It is true, investigators conducted a search at the office of the Directorate General of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Kuningan, Jakarta. The search was carried out in three rooms," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office (AGO), Harli Siregar, Tuesday, February 10.

During the search, investigators confiscated a number of evidences, including five boxes of documents and electronic evidence in the form of laptops and cellphones.

This search had sparked speculation of investigations related to the scarcity of 3 kilograms of LPG that occurred after the new policy of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

However, Harli emphasized that this action was a legal step in investigating oil and gas governance which was considered problematic.
