Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) Diana Kusumastuti ensured that Sedyatmo Toll Road would continue to operate properly despite flooding at KM 31+200 towards Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta).

To accelerate the receding inundation, the Ministry of Public Works through the Ciliwung River Basin Center (BBWS) Cisadane, Directorate General of Water Resources, has deployed four units of mobile pumps with a total capacity of 320 liters per second in affected locations.

"Currently, the water level has decreased and we continue to strive until the road is completely dry in the next few hours," Diana said as quoted from her written statement, Thursday, January 30.

According to Diana, the high rainfall in the long duration, coupled with the tidal sea water conditions, has hampered the flow of water from toll drainage to the sewers. As a result, there was inundation on the KM 31+200 toll road.

As an anticipatory measure, the government will continue to pump and consider dredging polders on the left side of toll roads to increase water capacity.

"We will also coordinate with PT Angkasa Pura and Jasa Marga to increase the capacity of the retention ponds they manage. In addition, we will communicate with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government regarding the drainage system in the surrounding residential area," said Diana.

Diana assessed that the Soetta Airport Toll Road is a vital infrastructure, so various efforts will be made to keep it functioning optimally.

Previously, Diana had directly inspected the location of the flood on the Sedyatmo KM 31+200 toll road.

Acting Head of BBWS Ciliwung Cisadane Ferdinandto stated that pump operations will continue until the weather conditions are completely stable.

"Ciliwung Cisadane BBWS pumping will remain on standby until the weather situation really improves in the next few days," he said.

He added that his party will continue to coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure that the flood problem on the Sedyatmo Toll Road can be resolved immediately.
