The Minister Of MSMEs Says That He Will Prepare SME Criteria That Can Manage Mining

JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman revealed that his party will coordinate with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding the determination of the criteria for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that can manage mines.

Previously, the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI officially approved the Draft Law (RUU) on the Fourth Amendment to Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal (Minerba) as the proposal for the DPR's initiative. One of the important points in this bill is the priority of mining management with a land area of under 2,500 hectares to SMEs.

"Of course, later we will prepare the criteria together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," Maman told the media crew at the Bidakara Hotel, Saturday, January 25.

On the same occasion, Maman straightened out that in the draft micro-enterprises were not involved but only Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

"I review this, not MSMEs but SMEs. So micro is not involved, so what is involved is small and medium," added Maman.

Maman said that the revision of the draft of the Minerba Law would provide SME players with the opportunity to grow. He also said that the involvement of SMEs in mining was only in the form of support and not managing mines directly.

"In the mining sectors, the involvement of small and medium enterprises is for example the supply of heavy equipment, food, macem-macem," said Maman.
