JAKARTA - The government targets to increase the electricity capacity by 71 gigawatts (GW) with a portion of 70 percent being new and renewable energy (EBT).
This was revealed by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir after a joint meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
"The meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bahlil Lahadalia and the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Sri Mulyani. We discussed to ensure the 2025-2034 Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL)," Erick wrote on the official Instagram @erickthohir, quoted Tuesday, January 14.
"We are targeting to increase the electricity capacity by 71 GW, with 70 percent being New Renewable Energy (EBT)," he continued.
Erick said that the increase in the capacity of electricity sourced from EBT was the government's effort to ensure a more environmentally friendly energy reservoir.
"This is the Government's commitment to ensure a more environmentally, new, and renewable energy transition for future generations," Erick wrote again.
Previously, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) of PT PLN (Persero) would be finalized in January 2025.
Currently, he said, the RUPTL is still in process and will be finalized together with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani.
"We discussed a little about the 2024-2034 RUPTL which is currently in the process of approval. According to his plan with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bahlil, and the Minister of Finance, we will hold a final meeting in January to decide," he said at the PLN's Central Load Management Unit (UIP2B) in Depok, West Java, Thursday, December 27.
Tiko Kartika's nickname said PLN would increase the power generation capacity by 71 gigawatts (GW). Where the majority is New Renewable Energy (EBT).
"This is PLN's commitment starting in 2025 to massively start building an EBT. So we will build 71 new gigawatts of capacity in 2024 to 2034 where the majority are indeed EBT," he explained.
