Coordinating Minister Zulhas Pede For Rice Production Reaches 32.8 Million Tons In 2025

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs (Menko Pangan) Zulkifli Hasan is optimistic that the national rice production capacity throughout 2025 can reach 32.8 million tons. In fact, it is expected to exceed that amount.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said the January harvest was projected to increase by 0.8 to 1.3 million tons from the previous year. Meanwhile, the production of February rice is projected to increase to 2.08 million tons. Then the peak is expected to occur in March to April 2025.

"So we had a big harvest, now the harvest is increasing in January, the Minister of Agriculture has said there is a significant increase," he said.

Zulhas said the government had also determined that food assistance for 16 million beneficiary families (KPM) was distributed for two months, namely January and February 2025.

Then, he continued, the distribution of food aid was decided to be increased for four months. With rangutu, the total food aid distributed is six months.

Zulhas said the government had not yet decided on the distribution of rice food aid after January and February 2025. This is because we have to see the conditions for the main harvest that are expected to occur in March and April 2025.

"When are the four months? We will wait for the final decision (limited meeting). Wait, because we don't want the harvest to have a SPHP, there is a distribution of rice, and anti-disturbing prices," he said.
