KCI Commuter Predicts To Serve 19.4 Million Users During The Christmas And New Year Period

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter) predicts that it will serve 19.4 million users during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods. This number increased 4 percent compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, KAI Commuter has set the 2024 Christmas and New Year 2025 (Nataru) holiday period starting December 19, 2024 to January 5, 2025.

KAI Commuter President Director Asdo Artriviyanto said there was an increase in KAI Commuter service users every year during the Nataru period.

Furthermore, Asdo said, during the 2022-2023 period, KAI Commuter served 15,710,167 passengers. Meanwhile, in Nataru 2023-2024 there were 18,721,454 passengers.

"In 2024-2025 the Nataru period will total 19,406,644 (users). So, the projection is an increase of approximately 4 percent with an increase in the volume of Nataru users compared to the Nataru 2023-2024 period," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, December 13.

Furthermore, Asdo said the Jabodetabek KRL was the largest contributor to all services managed by KAI Commuter. Where the number reached 16.5 million people during that period.

"First, the Jabodetabek Commuterline with 16,598,026 users, then the Commuterline Basoetta 118,823 (users), yes, this is the Nataru transportation period," he said.

Then, continued Asdo, Commuterline Region 1 Jakarta, this was Rangkasbitung-Merak, 265,168 (users), Commuterline in Greater Bandung there are 998,066 (users). Next, KRL Commuter Line Yogyakarta-Solo and Yogyakarta-Kutoarjo regions as many as 617,770 users.

"And, Commuter Line Region 8 Surabaya, in the East Java area, as many as 808,791 users," he said.

Previously, it was reported that PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter) would operate an Electric Rail Train (KRL) for 24 hours on New Year's Eve 2025. This step was taken to provide access to transportation for people from the center of the crowd during the New Year's Eve.

KAI Commuter President Director Asdo Artriviyanto explained that on New Year's Eve, it is predicted that there will be a movement of people to crowded centers in the capital city.

For example, the National Monument (Monas), Sudirman Street, and Bung Karno Gelora (GBK) areas.

"Especially on New Year's Eve, now the Jabodetabek KRL will operate for 24 hours," he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Friday, November 13.

Asdo explained that this additional operational time is to provide access for people who celebrate New Year's Eve at crowded points.

"What is this to anticipate? Anticipating people who go to crowded points such as Monas, Sudirman, and other crowded points at GBK, no one needs to stay overnight because they run out of transportation, especially urban transportation," he said.
