Jabodetabek KRL Will Operate 24 Hours On New Year's Eve

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter) will operate an Electric Rail Train (KRL) for 24 hours on New Year's Eve 2025. This step was taken to provide access to transportation for people from the center of the crowd during the New Year's Eve.

KAI Commuter President Director Asdo Artriviyanto explained that on New Year's Eve, it is predicted that there will be a movement of people to crowded centers in the capital. For example, the National Monument (Monas) area, Jalan Sudirman, to Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).

"Especially on New Year's Eve, now the Jabodetabek KRL will operate for 24 hours," he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Friday, November 13.

Asdo explained that this additional operational time is to provide access for people who celebrate New Year's Eve at crowded points.

"What is this to anticipate? Anticipating people who go to crowded points such as Monas, Sudirman, and other crowded points at GBK, no one needs to stay overnight because they run out of transportation, especially urban transportation," he said.

Asdo also said that at the turn of the year, the number of Commuter Line KRL trips would be increased by 66 trips. So that the total becomes 1,114 trips.

"That's why we run 24 hours, adding from the usual day during this transportation period 1,048 to 1,114 until there are an additional 66 trips," he said.

For your information, KAI Commuter added 66 trips and 11 other trains continued their journey on December 31, 2024. Meanwhile, on January 1, 2025, there will be an additional 42 trips in the afternoon.
