JAKARTA - PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) together with Papua Bersama Consortium officially signed the Joint Development Agreement (JDA) for the North Papua gasification project.
This signing is a further step in the gasification project to strengthen the gas supply chain through the development of LNG midstream infrastructure for power plants in the North Papua region which also supports national energy security.
PLN EPI President Director, Iwan Agung Firstantara, said that this strategic collaboration is an important step to ensure a cleaner, more sustainable and domestically oriented energy supply in North Papua.
"With the signing of the JDA today, we are confident that the next steps such as design, funding, and construction will run faster," said Iwan, Thursday, December 5.
Iwan said that the North Papua gasification project will support the operation of seven main power plants with a total capacity of 168 MW. This project also requires an average gas supply of 20.83 BBTUD over the next 20 years.
The main infrastructure that will be built from this collaboration are 2 Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRU) in Jayapura and Biak and 2 Onshore Storage Facilities in Manokwari and Nabire to ensure a more stable and efficient gas supply.
The seven power plants that will receive gas supplies include PLTMG Manokwari 2 (20 MW), MPP Nabire (23 MW), PLTMG Nabire 2 (10 MW), MPP Jayapura (50 MW), PLTMG Jayapura Peaker (40 MW), PLTMG Biak (15 MW), PLTMG Biak 2 (10 MW).
PLN EPI and Papua Together with the Consortium, consisting of PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping, PT PGN LNG Indonesia, PT Enviromate Technology International, and PT APCA Tirta Engineering, will collaborate in technical validation, engineering design, licensing, financial modeling, and overall project management.
Eka Suhendra, Director of Business Planning of PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping, emphasized the importance of this project as a real manifestation of synergy between BUMN.
"This project is a great opportunity to strengthen national energy security. With the experience and technical capabilities of the consortium, we are optimistic that this project will provide significant benefits, not only for the energy sector but also for the people of Papua," said Eka.
