PLN: Program 3 Million Houses Will Increase Electricity Sales 6.3 TWh Per Year

PT PLN (Persero) said the program of 3 million houses made by President Prabowo Subianto would increase electricity sales growth by 6.3 Terra Watt hour (TWh) per year with the need for an increase in power capacity of 1 Gigawatt (GW).

This was conveyed by the President Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo in the Dialogue agenda with the Developers Association entitled 'Accelerated Distribution of 3 Million Houses' Programs at the BTN Tower, Jakarta, Friday, November 29.

"Of course, the additional 3 million housing programs per year will increase the demand consumption by around 6.3 TWh per year, and if we convert into a generator, there will be an additional 1 Gigawatt per year. On top of the current demand," said Darmawan.

Darmawan assessed that the additional potential was a positive signal for PLN. The reason is, this will provide additional income for the state-owned company.

"Well, of course this is part of our consideration, because 1 Gigawatt is not in one location. So, there are three electricity demand, namely location, time and what capacity are needed. So, there are three," he said.

"Well, of course, this means that it is not concentrated demand, but is distributed demand. This is a location, time and capacity. So, three dimensions," concluded Darmawan.

Currently, the number of PLN household customers based on connected data has reached 83 million with a total demand of 122 TWh.
