JAKARTA - Erick Thohir was officially inaugurated as Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) for the periode 2024-2029 in the Red and White Cabinet of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Erick was officially inaugurated today at the State Palace, Jakarta. The appointment of Erick as Minister of SOEs was announced by Prabowo and Gibran at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Sunday, October 20.

Erick's name at the helm of the Ministry of SOEs is nothing new. Erick previously also served as Minister of SOEs for the 2019-2024 period during the Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Ma'ruf Amin administration.

Before entering the government, Erick was already known in the business world. He served as commissioner and president director of a well-known Indonesian company.

Erick is the founder of the Mahaka group, the parent multimedia company that owns several business units, ranging from mass media such as radio, online media, and television, advertising to sports.

He was also listed as President Commissioner of Mahaka Media (2010-2019), Inter Milan Club President (2013-2016), and President Director of PT Intermedia Capital Tbk, parent company ANTV, in 2014-2019.

Not only known in the business world, Erick is also famous in the world of sports. He was the owner of the Inter Milan football club in 2013-2019, even briefly became President of Inter Milan in 2013-2016.

Erick also served as President of the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) for three terms from 2006-2019, as well as the General Chair of the All-Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) for the 2006-2010 period.

The man who was born in Jakarta on May 30, 1970, was also the Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (2015-2019), and Chairman of the 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee / INASGOC (2018). Now, he has served as General Chair of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) since his appointment on February 16, 2023.

In terms of education, Erick holds an Associate of Arts in Communication from Glendale College, United States. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising at American College, and a Master of Business Administration for Advertising from the National University of California.

In detail, Erick is recorded as having assets in the form of 34 plots of land and buildings with a total value of IDR 419.67 billion spread across Depok, Bekasi, Pasuruan, South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and Tangerang.

Erick also owns four vehicles with a total value of IDR 4.96 billion. Consisting of the 1969 Mercedez Bens W108280S, a Honda NF125TR, a Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV electric car in 2022, and a Hyundai GENESIS G80EV electric car in 2022.

Still citing LHKPN, Erick also has other movable assets worth IDR 28.57 billion, securities worth IDR 1.72 trillion, cash and cash equivalents worth IDR 192.35 billion, other assets worth IDR 149.06 billion, with debt ownership of IDR 203.76 billion.
