JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs will hold The 1st Modest Fashion Month (Mofam) on October 13 at Banteng Square, Jakarta, as an effort to support Indonesia's vision of becoming the center of world fashion fashion and supporting the local fashion industry.

Acting (Plt) Deputy for SMEs at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Temmy Satya Permana, said that Mofam aims not only to improve quality and competitiveness, but also to celebrate and promote fashionable and polite dress styles, reflecting the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and self-expression.

"This event will bring together designers, influencers, and fashion lovers in one forum to share ideas, inspirations, and innovations in an inclusive fashion world for all people," said Temmy as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 11.

Carrying the theme 'Modest X Streetwear: The Fusion of Modesty, Urban Style & Ready-to-Wear', Mofam not only promotes the work of local designers, but also an affirmation as preparation for Indonesia to become the world's modest fashion center.

Temmy said that Indonesia has great potential to become a world fashion Qibla, considering that there are around 229 million populations with the third largest fashion industry consumption in the world.

"Indonesia's fashion motion has a potential uniqueness that is lifted to the global market. With improved product quality, design innovation, and competitiveness, we are optimistic that Indonesian modest fashion will be more prepared to compete in the international market," he said.

Temmy, citing data from the State of Global Islamic Economic Report 2023, said that the consumption of the world's Muslim community reached 2.29 trillion US dollars in 2022 and is projected to increase to 3.1 trillion US dollars by 2027.

The modest fashion sector is one of the biggest contributors to this growth.

"The development and expansion of the Indonesian modest fashion sector market in the international market is very important to strengthen Indonesia's position to become a major player in the world fashion market," said Temmy.

The event, which will take place from 09.00 to 21.00 WIB, will feature works from more than 10 local designers and 50 MSMEs from all over Indonesia.
