108 Tons Of Ginger From Outside Destroyed, Politician Gerindra Reminded The Minister Of Doyan Import To Have A Nationalist Spirit

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Agriculture and Commission IV of the DPR destroyed 108 tons of imported ginger from Myanmar and Vietnam that did not meet the quarantine requirements.

According to DPR Commission IV Member Endang S Thohari, the existence of imported ginger reminds the government of the importance of coordination between related ministries to protect Indonesian farmers.

Moreover, according to Endang, President Jokowi has called for love of domestic products and hates imports.

"As recommended by the President to love Indonesian production," Endang told reporters, Wednesday, March 31.

This Gerindra politician emphasized that every related ministry that plans to import, should prioritize the spirit of nationalism in accordance with Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. This is to anticipate dependence on imports.

"So it must have a nationalist spirit in accordance with Article 33," said Endang.

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture through the Agricultural Quarantine Agency (Barantan) again destroyed 287.7 tons of ginger from India and Myanmar that did not meet the quarantine requirements and entered through the Port of Tanjung Perak.

Barantan has also destroyed 108 tons of ginger from Vietnam and Myanmar that entered through Tanjung Priok Port.

Barantan Secretary, Wisnu Haryana said, the refusal action which was followed by the destruction would have gone through the study and the results of the risk analysis.

"The best action is to maintain productivity and protect the sustainability of the country's agricultural resources," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 30.

According to Wisnu, after a physical and laboratory inspection was carried out by the quarantine official of the imported fresh commodity plants, it did not meet the quarantine requirements and had the potential to carry plant pests, so a refusal action was taken.
