Report To DPR, Minister Trenggono Calls KKP Failed To Smuggle BBL Worth IDR 278.6 Billion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) reported the development of supervision of lobster clear seeds (BBL) to Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives today.

In his report, KP Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that until now his ministry had succeeded in thwarting smuggling 24 times at 11 location points.

"We report that the KKP always synergizes with law enforcement officials to prevent and enforce the law against the smuggling of BBL in Palembang, Jambi and Tangerang. Through this synergy, the KKP has thwarted smuggling 24 times in 11 locations with a total of 2 million BBL that was thwarted worth Rp. 278.6 billion," Trenggono said in a working meeting (Raker) with Commission IV of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 3.

In addition, Trenggono said that his party had also succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of BBL in the Cilacap area, Central Java; Long Island Waters in the Riau Islands; and in Binuangeun, Banten.

Trenggono detailed the amount of fuel that was rescued by the KKP. For the Cilacap area, the KKP managed to thwart the smuggling of 16,000 BBL.

The suspects involved have been sentenced to 6 months in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 million.

Then for the Long Island Waters area in the Riau Islands, the KKP managed to save 795.000 BBL to be smuggled.

In detail, as many as 783,200 sand lobsters and 12,300 types of pearls. The estimated value of the loss saved by the KKP is Rp90 billion.

Furthermore, for the Binuangeun area of Banten, KKP managed to thwart the smuggling of 20,000 BBL.

"In addition, joint efforts have also paid off. In Cilacap, the waters of Panjang Islands (Riau Islands) and Binuangeun (Banten) KKP have thwarted the smuggling of 831,000 BBL," said Trenggono.
