Reduce Pollution, Minister Of Transportation Invites Urban Transportation To Switch To Electric Vehicles

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the government is very serious in encouraging the use of electric vehicles as an effort to overcome pollution problems. Therefore, he invited urban transportation to switch to using electric vehicles.

"The government has consistently made electric vehicles the majority of people transporting. It is not easy. Therefore, we urge urban public transportation, especially to use electric vehicles," he said while attending the Merdeka Indonesia Trust event from Pollution with Grab Partners, in Jakarta, Monday, August 26.

Budi also appreciated Grab Indonesia's steps in supporting the acceleration of the battery-based electric motor vehicle program as an effort to reduce air pollution.

For your information, since 2019 until now, Grab has served the people of Indonesia with more than 10,000 electric vehicles, especially in 8 major cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Medan, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Semarang and Solo. Grab will also add 1,000 electric vehicles in the future.

"I appreciate what Grab has done regarding the procurement of electric vehicles for the environment. This is also in line with Presidential Regulation in 2019 concerning the Acceleration of Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle Programs, where the government has targeted the operation of 2 million electric cars in Indonesia by 2030," he said.

Budi also advised all Grab driver partners to always be careful when driving. To Grab Indonesia, Budi asked to provide the best service to the community.

"We hope that Grab Indonesia will also provide periodic education to partners, especially regarding driving safety rules, then providing services to the community as service users, so that not only the fleet is good but the service provided is also getting better and increasing," he said.
