JAKARTA - The Ultra Micro (UMi) ecosystem consisting of BRI, Pegadaian and Madani National Capital (PNM) recorded a significant increase.

Until the end of the second quarter of 2024, it was recorded that the UMi ecosystem had succeeded in disbursing loans to 36.1 million debtors with a loan portfolio that was distributed reaching IDR 622.3 trillion or grew 7.7 percent year on year.

BRI Micro Business Director Supari detailed that of the total IDR 622.3 trillion, IDR 496.2 trillion was channeled through BRI micro credit, IDR 77 trillion was channeled by Pegadaian and the remaining IDR 49.2 trillion was distributed by PNM.

"BRI will also strengthen its micro-business positioning with an ecosystem centric approach and an 'Empowerment' strategy in Front of Financing," Supari said in a statement to the media, Wednesday, August 7.

Supari also added that BRI will focus on controlling micropayment by establishing an empowerment-based ecosystem.

"So that in addition to increasing the collection of public deposits, it is hoped that it will be able to increase the depth of financial inclusion which will have an impact on improving people's lives," he added.

Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir encouraged the performance of the ultra micro financing distribution business even in the midst of unstable global economic conditions and weakened people's purchasing power.

Erick Thohir reminded the important role of MSMEs in stabilizing the economy during the 1998 economic crisis.

"When people's purchasing power is down or MSMEs are weakening, we as a government or SOEs should not leave them," he said.
