JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) is working on the Palembang Interchange (Junction) construction project.

Having a total length of 8.3 kilometers (km), this junction will later integrate the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung and Palembang-Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Roads.

Director of Operations III of HKI Aditya Novendra Jaya said that the construction of the Palembang Junction until mid-2024 was quite progressive.

"HKI has built eight ramps in the Palembang Junction, of which five ramps are targeted to be completed by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, the other three ramps will be completed by 2025," Aditya said in a press release quoted on Saturday, August 3.

The construction of the Palembang Junction is considered to facilitate public access from Lampung to Prabumulih and vice versa and Prabumulih to Betung and vice versa without having to exit or exit through the toll gate (GT).

"Previously, people who passed the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road and will go to the Palembang-Indralaya-Prabumulih section and vice versa must go through toll exit and national roads," he said.

If it is operational, the Palembang Junction will connect the two toll roads directly so that they can cut travel times.

From a technical point of view, the Palembang junction consists of eight ramps, planned to have a four meter (m) long lane width with an elevated structure construction and has a planned speed of 40-60 km/hour.

In order to prevent the construction of the Palembang Junction from disrupting the operation of active toll roads in the vicinity, the HKI will carry out the CCI girder's direction using a launcher.

Adjustment of the direction girder process is carried out by carrying out safe traffic engineering and management through full coordination with toll operators and related stakeholders related to traffic management.

"With maximum efforts in the field, the Palembang Junction project is expected to facilitate connectivity so that it will have a positive impact on economic growth in South Sumatra Province," he added.
