Construction Of IKN VVIP Airport Back To Normal After Weather Constraints

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumasi revealed that the construction of the VVIP Airport for the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), in East Kalimantan has been running normally again, after previously being constrained by weather.

Furthermore, Budi said that with the return to normal construction, it is hoped that VVIP IKN Airport can operate functionally by the end of August.

"It's back to normal. So we hope that by the end of August it will be finished," he said when met in the Tendean area, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 31.

Because the construction has not yet been completed, Budi said that VVIP IKN Airport cannot be operated to support the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia which is planned to be held at IKN on August 17.

Budi said that instead, VVIP guests who will attend the August 17 ceremony will land at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan.

Previously, it was reported that the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi revealed the construction of the Naratama Airport (Bandara) (very imported person) named Nusantara Airport in the new capital city of Indonesia, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim), was hampered by weather.

Throughout July 2024, only eight days of airport construction can be carried out massively because of sunny weather, he said, for this reason, cooperation with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has modified the weather to support the construction of the airport.

It is estimated that Nusantara Airport can be operated in the early stages at the end of August 2024, according to Budi Karya Sumadi, the airport construction will be carried out massively starting in August 2024.
