Jokowi Calls Indonesia's Competitiveness Increases Thanks To Infrastructure Development During 1 Decade

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said infrastructure development was able to increase Indonesia's competitiveness ranking.

He considered that infrastructure was not just built as 'original' but had to provide benefits.

This was conveyed by Jokowi in front of entrepreneurs who are members of the Indonesian National Construction Implementation Association (Gappensi).

He emphasized that infrastructure is not limited to building concrete.

"I just want to leave it to Gapensi that building infrastructure is not just building the concrete. Not only building the origin of the finished, but there are no benefits," said Jokowi in his remarks at the Reflection and Note of Jokowi's 10-Year Government in the Fields of Construction, Infrastructure and Investment in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 31.

He said that the development of infrastructure for 1 decade in his government was able to increase Indonesia's competitiveness position in the eyes of the world, from position 34 to rank 27 today.

"We know the infrastructure development, our World Competitiveness Ranking has increased from 34 jumps to 27," he said.

The President said that this aspect of competitiveness is the goal of development carried out by the government. This includes providing benefits for the connectivity of the wider community.

"The competitive system that we want to achieve from the existing developments besides of course the benefits of infrastructure are for the people because we are currently competing, competing with other countries," said Jokowi.

"Once connectivity is not good, then infrastructure is not good. Who are investors who want to enter Indonesia," he added.
