Toyota Strengthens GAZOO Racing Ecosystem And Officially Launches New GR YarisUMUM

JAKARTA - GAZOO Racing (GR) presents the latest GR Pure line-up in Indonesia by displaying New GR Yaris at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024 exhibition at the 5B ICE BSD City Hall, Tangerang, Banten, on 18-28 July 2024.

In addition to presenting 13 GR models in Indonesia, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) also strengthens the three main pillars of GR, namely Motorsport, Community, and Product.

At the GIIAS 2024 event, Toyota announced the development of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) GT Cup e-Motorsport competition. There is a new category that allows racers to qualify in GR Zones throughout Indonesia, thus expanding opportunities for junior virtual racers to compete.

Toyota strengthens the ecosystem that supports the three main pillars of the GR brand

PT TAM strengthens the three main pillars of the GR brand which includes Motorsport, Community, and Product through various activities and products presented.

Motorsport Pillar

Motorsport is a core activity GR globally including in Indonesia. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Indonesia (TGRI) actively competes in two different motorcyclesport events at the regional level, namely GT World Challenge Asia and Asia Cross Country Rally.

TGRI racers who used the GR Supra GT4 Evo for the time being have temporarily won five podiums of the GT World Challenge Asia Japan Cup 2024 in Japan.

At the national level, TGRI's participation in relying on the GR Sport and GR Pure variants has won several national titles in various ISOM, rally, sprint rally, and slalom tour events since starting to compete in 2021, plus several podiums won earlier this season.

Pillar Community

The pillar of Community is one of Toyota's powers after more than 50 years of presence in Indonesia. Since the end of last year, PT TAM has inaugurated the GR Enthusiast community which will also be an extension in spreading the Joy of GR to other Toyota communities and the wider community.

In addition, Toyota has provided a gathering place for GR loyalists and automotive sports fans through the one-stop-community hub GR Garage at Pantai Indah Kapuk 2. There are also 28 GR Zone points spread across Toyota's official dealers throughout Indonesia to expand the reach of the GR brand.

Toyota provides wider opportunities for e-Motorsport lovers to participate in the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup competition.

This year, Toyota presents a new category that allows racers to qualify for the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup in the GR Zone in order to expand opportunities for economists in Indonesia.

Some of the fastest racers can then compete nationally in Jakarta against other regional representatives.

Pillar Product

Since the GR brand officially arrived in Indonesia in 2021, one by one GR products have completed the choice of GR Pure, GR Sport, and GR Parts models, ranging from entry-level to premium cars and which are embedded with electrification technology.

Currently, GAZOO Racing sells a total of 13 vehicle models in Indonesia. Its acceptance rate is very positive as reflected in the sales ratio of the GR Sport and GR Parts variants which exceed 80 percent compared to non-GR models.

New GR Yaris is officially present in Indonesia

Pada momen GIIAS 2024, PT TAM mulai memasarkan kembali New GR Yaris sebagai evolutionary dari model sebelumnya yakni GR Yaris.

GR Yaris is a car built with a reverse engineering principle for use in the World Rally Championship (WRC) racing event. In 2021, GR Yaris was introduced in a limited way, as many as 127 units, which were sold out immediately.

Broadly speaking, there are 4 development points in the latest GR Yaris. The first is the 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct AT assisting the manual transmission of 6 accelerations that remain.

This smart transmission performance was tested by the TGR World Rally Team and TGR Rally Challenge participants on various racing tracks.

TGR has succeeded in creating automatic transmissions that can produce very fast dental displacements and maximize engine power in all ranges of engine spins.

The 1,600 cc 3-cylinder turbo engine used by GR Yaris is one of the most efficient and powerful machines in the world.

It didn't stop there, the kitchen runway was also successfully maximized again so that its power increased significantly from the previous 261 PS to now touching the 305 PS figure, while its torque rose from 360 Nm to 400 Nm.

The new Drive Mode option and 4WD GR Four system optimization are also embedded to maximize upgrades to power. Now, drivers can select 3 available drive modes with different control characteristics; Sport, Normal, and Eco.

In addition, there is also optimization of the GR Four system through 3 modes; Normal, Gravel (Previously Sport), and Track, which can adjust the distribution of power to the front and rear wheels according to the characteristics of the riders and track they pass.

The control and monitor panel in the cockpit is tilted 15 degrees towards the driver to make operation easier. The driving posture has also been fixed by lowering the driver's seat as low as 25 mm, which expands visibility and visibility significantly.

From the exterior side, the right and bottom left sides of the front bumper are now separate structures to facilitate repair and replacement of parts if needed as well as a change in the front bumper design for better air flow in cooling the engine and trying to cooler.

Reflecting on the experience of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid in the rally world, the Yaris GR chassis is strengthened, which allows drivers to spur this car to reach its limits.

Body rigidity is increased through spot welding which is 13 percent higher, additional body adhesive 24 percent, and 3-point suspension moding method which has an impact on increased handling stability and ride comfort.

The New GR Yaris car sells for IDR 1.15 billion for manual transmission versions and IDR 1.198 billion for the automatic transmission version (OTR DKI Jakarta).

This car comes with an additional new color, namely Precious Metal, accompanying the iconic colors of Platinum White Pearl and Emotional Red.
