Prabowo-Gibran Volunteers Become Commissioners Of SOEs, Stafsus Erick Thohir: This Is His Name Continued

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir recently reshuffled the board of commissioners in a number of state-owned companies. The names of politicians to the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team Volunteers (TKN) also occupy the chair of commissioner.

Most recently, the name Fauzi Baradilla, who is a former TKN Prabowo-Gibran administrator, was appointed as the Independent Commissioner of PT Pos Indonesia (Persero). There is also the name Burhanuddin Abdullah who is the Chairman of the Gerindra Expert Council appointed as President Commissioner of PT PLN (Persero).

For your information, the appointment of a number of people closest to Prabowo Subianto is indeed in the spotlight. The reason is, this phenomenon occurred before Prabowo was officially appointed as president-elect.

Then, what is the reason Erick Thohir appointed politicians to be commissioners in BUMN?

The Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, explained that the appointment of a number of people closest to Prabowo as commissioners of BUMN before the inauguration of the president was part of a sustainable transitional government process.

According to Arya, this is the first time the government has made a continuation of the transition. Arya said that the previous government transition process was not like this.

"This is the first time, Bung Karno's time to Pak Harto was really broken. From Mr. Harto to Habibi it was a reform. Habibi to Gus Dur broke up too. Gus Dur went to Megawati, broke up too. From Megawati to SBY, it broke up too. From SBY to Pak Jokowi, it broke up too. This is the first time it has been connected," he told reporters, written Thursday, July 25.

Arya also explained that the owner of a state-owned company is the government. So, the government has the right to determine the direction of the BUMN policy in the future, including the change of commissioners.

"So it also includes SOEs that have a policy direction in accordance with the government," he said.

Therefore, according to Arya, the Minister of SOEs will appoint individuals with policies that are in line with the government. For example, people close to Prabowo today.

"So it's only natural that anything is related to the government," he said.

Arya said that since Erick Thohir served as minister of state-owned enterprises, the position of state-owned commissioners has often been occupied by individuals who are close to politics.

Furthermore, Arya also said that SOE operations are inseparable from politics. This is because various policies and reporting of performance results involve the House of Representatives (DPR).

'Where do you want to build a holding, report it? DPR. Where do you want an IPO? Go to the DPR. Where do you want to add capital? To the DPR. Is there a private sector not like this? No. And that is politics. Therefore, don't consider politics negative, "he explained.
