The 2024 Infrastructure Budget Reaches IDR 423.4 Trillion, Ministry Of PUPR: Construction Industry Readiness Must Follow

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that this year's national infrastructure budget reached IDR 423.4 trillion or 12.73 percent of the total State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

Director General of Construction Development of the Ministry of PUPR Abdul Muis revealed that the large budget allocation needs to be followed by the readiness of the construction industry in providing supplies of construction materials.

"The amount of the national infrastructure budget must be followed by the readiness of the construction industry. I want to emphasize that it can be in line with the infrastructure development acceleration program," he said at the Indonesian Construction Launching at the PUPR Ministry Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 23.

The reason is, if the supply of construction materials is not fulfilled domestically, it is feared that this will strengthen Indonesia's foreign exchange spending.

In addition, Abdul Muis also emphasized that the national construction industry must be agile in responding to changes quickly and effectively and be able to adapt to technological developments, changes in regulation and market dynamics.

Thus, it is hoped that it can have a positive impact on quality to increase competitiveness. Meanwhile, Indonesia is currently the country with the highest increase in competitiveness ranking in the world, which is ranked 27th.

Indonesia's position has increased by 7 places compared to the previous year. Thus, Indonesia is in the top three in the Southeast Asian Region (ASEAN) after Singapore (ranked 1) and Thailand (ranked 25).

"This is where the readiness of the construction supply chain is very necessary. The construction service industry is expected to be able to ensure the readiness of all resources, both in terms of quality and quantity. Starting from the construction service business entity, labor, the supply chain of equipment materials to construction technology," he said.

In line with this, the Ministry of PUPR is ready to hold the 2024 Indonesian Construction activities whose peak event will be held on November 6-8, 2024 at ICE BSD, Tangerang.

The activity was held as a form of appreciation for the contribution of the community to construction services and became a medium for exchanging information between construction stakeholders.

"Thus, supply and demand will be created as well as communication between stakeholders of construction services, both nationally and internationally as well as a promotional event to encourage investment, creativity, construction technology and national construction activities," he concluded.
