Aburizal Bakrie's Children Flood Support Towards Kadin Position 1

JAKARTA - The nomination exchange for the general chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is starting to be busy being discussed. A number of names also emerged as candidates for Rosan Roeslani's replacement, who immediately ended the position of General Chairman. One of them is Anindya Bakrie.

Some views say that Rosan S. Roeslani, the current Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will not compete again in the contest for the election of the chairman of Kadin for the period 2021-2026. It was reported that the name Rosan was being proposed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the Indonesian Parliament to become the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States.

As is known, the position of ambassador in Uncle Sam's country is currently empty. Because the previous filler, Muhammad Lutfi, had been summoned by Jokowi to become Minister of Trade since the end of December 2020.

However, until now the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has not set a definite date for the national meeting (Munas). Even so, a number of regional administrators said that the event, which one of the main agendas of choosing a general chairman for the next 5 years, would be held before June 2021.

Anindya Bakrie is aggressively seeking support

In the midst of the news that Rosan will not advance in the election market for the candidate for chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Bakrie is currently on a safari to win the hearts of regional administrators as well as the general chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Extraordinary Members Association (ALB). Anindya Bakrie previously served as Deputy Chairman for the Organization, Membership and Regional Empowerment of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the management of Rosan Roeslani. He also served as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce for two terms (1994-2004).

The son of conglomerate Aburizal Bakrie himself regularly posts support from regional administrators, associations and regional heads so that he can be trusted to be the next Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The conglomerate's last post which was born in November 1974 was a meeting with the General Chairmen of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sumatra, or those who represented, including the Governor of the Riau Islands.

Support from Sumatra and Papua

A number of Chairmen of the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry throughout Sumatra and Papua expressed their support for Anindya Bakrie to lead the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry 2021-2026.

Chairman of the North Sumatra Kadin Ivan Batubara stated that when the economy is in a slump because of COVID-19 like this, entrepreneurs need to recover together. And a suitable Kadin Chairman is needed to rise.

"From the conclusion of our discussion, Bung Anin is a suitable figure," said Ivan Batubara on the sidelines of the Sumatra Kadin gathering in Batam, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 19.

Ivan said that his party had held a meeting with the Head of Kadin in urban districts in North Sumatra to determine the choice of the Chairman of the Indonesian Kadin, who was considered capable of continuing the struggle of the previous leader.

Furthermore, he considered that Anin had a lot of experience in the business world and organizations. Moreover, Anindya Bakrie has served at Kadin for 15 years and has proven to be able to complete difficult tasks well.

Agreeing with North Sumatra, the Chairman of Kadin Bangka Belitung Thomas Jusman also supported Anin to lead Kadin Indonesia.

The presence of seven Kadin leaders from all over Sumatra in the gathering that Anindya attended in Batam, according to him, was a sign of solidarity to support him.

"Anin is a friendly, polite, educated person and has an emotional connection with the regions," he said.

Thomas believes that Anin is able to empower regional Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) in accordance with the determination of the child conglomerate Aburizal Bakrie to develop Indonesia from the regions.

Still at the same event, Deputy Chairman of the Aceh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indra Azmi, stated that almost all regions support Anindya Bakrie.

"God willing, Anin will lead Kadin from 2021 to 2026," said Indra, representing the recently deceased Chairman of the Aceh Chamber of Commerce.

Not only did he get the 'green light' from Kadin throughout Sumatra, Anindya Bakrie also received the blessing from Kadin Papua. Chairman of the West Papua Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Imanuel Yenu admitted that he strongly supports Anindya Bakrie as a candidate for Kadin General Chair in the next period.

According to Immanuel, someone who wants to be a leader in an organization must know the organization and the people he will lead. Thus, the problem of how long the person is active and involved in the internal organization itself, according to him, clearly determines this.

In terms of capacity and loyalty, said Imanuel, Anindya Bakrie's 15 years of experience at Kadin were sufficient to get to know the organization and its people.

"So in our opinion, for 15 years Pak Anindya Bakrie has been at Kadin, it is time for him to take the reins of leadership as chairman of Kadin," said Imanuel.

The association of Indonesian exporters, trucks and pharmacies, supports Anindya

Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Exporters of Entrepreneurs or GPEI Benny Soetrisno expressed his support for Anindya Novyan Bakrie as a candidate for Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the 2021-2026 period.

"So I think that in the future Kadin will be led by Pak Anin. The way of thinking will be different from that of my generation or that of his father," he said, during a meeting with the Kadin member association, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

Benny revealed his reasons for supporting Anindya Bakrie in the election for Kadin chairman. He said, Anindya is a Kadin young generation who has been managing Kadin for a long time.

In addition, he assessed that Anindya also has advantages in terms of understanding how to make optimal use of digital technology. He emphasized that digital technology can provide added value to the economy.

Support for Anindya Bakrie also came from the Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs Association (GP), the Indonesian Truck Entrepreneurs Association (Aptrindo), the Indonesian Medium Business Association (AUMI), the Indonesian Supporting Chemical Producers Association (APKAPI), and the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (Iwapi).

Secretary General of the DPP Aptrindo Wisnu Letalolo assessed that Anindya's performance during her 15 years at Kadin has proven to be able to facilitate various needs of entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, he said Anindya had been very good at sheltering various entrepreneurs in the regions by facilitating their interests so that they received government support to continue to develop.

"The association sees Anin's competence and organizational expertise over three periods. We really, really hope for a figure like Pak Anin to lead Kadin in the future," said Wisnu in his statement, quoted on Monday, March 22.

Likewise, the Chairman of PP GP Pharmacy Tirto Kusnadi stated, Anindya was able to properly absorb the various aspirations of entrepreneurs in any region throughout Indonesia. Therefore, Tirto also supports Anindya to become the general chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"If I see Pak Anin as a businessman, there will be more prominent improvements in this membership. There is hope that the association will grow well in Kadin," said Tirto.

Support also came from the General Chairman of AUMI, Ridwan Hamid. He saw that Anindya had been trying to advance MSMEs to be able to move up in class and collaborate with big companies.

"Pak Anin knows exactly the problems that arise. We hope that in the future Anin can be close to the government. Because, so far, if not supported by the government, Kadin is rather heavy, especially UMKM," said Ridwan.

Meanwhile, APKAPI Chairman Ridwan Adipoetra said he was optimistic that Anindya could help the government to encourage investment in Indonesia and improve export performance.

"We know him and his performance. We know what the results will be. We hope he will become the leader of Kadin, so that he will invest more and promote more production in Indonesia and more exports," he said.

Iwapi General Chairman Nita Yudi considered Anindya to be the right person to lead the parent organization of these entrepreneurs. This is because Anindya is considered to have a qualified capacity.

"Seeing Pak Anin's journey, there are many hopes. He often goes to the regions, often receives regional input. Iwapi is very supportive of Anin by seeing his expertise," said Nita.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he continued, entrepreneurs needed young figures who were able to adapt quickly to raise various business sectors from economic pressures.

Furthermore, Nita also hopes that Anindya can empower women as entrepreneurs who progress when they become chairman.

When confirmed regarding the support that flowed to him, Anindya Bakrie said the most important thing was that Kadin was united, so that everyone could move forward together.
