JAKARTA The National Food Agency or Bapanas ensures that food availability ahead of the 2024 Eid Al-Adha National Religious Holiday (HBKN) is safe. Food prices are also projected to be stable.

Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization of NFA I Gusti Ketut Astawa said that this stable food price was driven by a decrease in market demand because it coincided with the new school year of school children.

"As reported by food business partners, we can ensure that the availability of strategic staple food ahead of Eid al-Adha is safe and food prices are relatively stable," said Ketut, in an official statement, Wednesday, June 12.

Although stocks are available and prices are stable, Ketut asked all parties to jointly maintain supply stability and food prices.

For this reason, continued Ketut, Bapanas will continue to seek various intervention actions such as Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP), Facilitation of Food Distribution (FDP), Inter-Regional Cooperation (KAD), and the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) to maintain price disparities in the community to maintain the pace of national inflation.

Ketut also said that Government Food Reserves (CPP) in Perum Bulog and ID FOOD will be optimized to meet the needs of areas that have minimal production availability and depend on foreign supplies such as North Kalimantan, Maluku, and the Papua region.

"So as directed by the Head of NFA, Mr. Arief Prasetyo Adi, all parties should report any shortage of food stock, so that it can be supplied immediately by the Food SOEs," said Ketut.

From the results of the Iduladha HBKN Coordination Meeting, said Ketut, the availability of sacrificial animals is sufficient, whether cows, buffalo, or goats to meet the needs of the community, even the tendency for stable prices such as in 2023.

"The tendency to buy sacrificial animals is in the weight or low price considering there are other needs such as the new school year for school children," he explained.

Meanwhile, to minimize the spread of diseases such as Mouth and Nail Disease (PMK) and lungs, the government urges the public to comply with all existing rules by not mixing healthy animals with those exposed.

"Animals sent by inter-regional crossings must also be verified by the Indonesian Quarantine Agency and ensure that they are safe from disease," he said.

As for other food commodities such as corn, soybeans, shallots, garlic, chicken meat, chicken eggs, sugar, and cooking oil, it is certain that the stock is sufficient and the price is stable.

"Food prices in producers and traders are relatively balanced so that people can get food at a reasonable price," he said.
