The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is eyeing the expansion of the market to non-traditional areas, namely countries in Central Asia and Eurasia for the domestic electronics and telematics industry.

"The Indonesian government is trying to explore international trade cooperation with several countries, especially those in Central Asia and Eurasia," said Director of the Electronics and Telematics Industry (IET) of the Ministry of Industry Priyadi Arie Nugroho in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, May 17.

Priyadi said, as one of the efforts to make this happen, his party collaborated with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to hold a forum business at the POWER Uzbekistan 2024 event which took place on May 14-16, 2024.

He considered that the event opened up opportunities for comprehensive business cooperation between Indonesian industry players and non-traditional market countries. Thus, it can expand the network between companies while at the same time displaying Indonesia's potential as an investment destination.

According to him, Indonesia's involvement in the business forum can also strengthen Indonesia's relations with Uzbekistan, which is considered to have an important role in the scope of Central Asia and Eurasia in expanding industrial and trade cooperation.

"Because the Central Asian market is a non-traditional market, involvement in trade exhibitions, business forums and other export promotional activities in this region can help expand Indonesia's superior products," he said.

As for the POWER Uzbekistan 2024 event, the Ministry of Industry and the Indonesian Embassy in Tashkent worked together to build the Indonesian Pavilion to showcase the capabilities of seven Indonesian business actors from various sectors, such as the electronics and telematics industry, the petroleum and gas pipeline industry, the measuring equipment industry and industrial estates.

The seven Indonesian participants who appeared at the prestigious event were PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia, PT Communication Cable Systems Indonesia, PT Sinar Baja Electric, Bandung Techno Park, PT Rainbow Tubulars Manufacture, PT 3S International and PT Indonesia Pomalaa Industry Park.
