The Ministry Of PUPR Will Introduce These Two Programs At Bali's 10th World Water Forum

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said the Pamsimas and Sanimas programs would be presented at the 10th World Water Forum in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.

"Pamsimas and Sanimas are programs that play an important role in sanitation and the availability of clean water in the community," wrote PUPR's statement as quoted from its official Instagram account @kemenpupr, Monday, May 13.

The provision of public-based drinking water and sanitation or Pamsimas is one of the national programs that can improve access to drinking water and adequate sanitation with a community-based approach.

Pamsimas activities also include the construction of a new Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) as well as the expansion and optimization of existing SPAM with a home connection module (SR).

"This program raises public awareness to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle, such as cooking water before drinking, getting used to washing hands with soap (CTPS) and leaving a bad habit of defecating carelessly (BABS)," he said.

Meanwhile, community-based sanitation or Sanimas is a program to provide wastewater infrastructure for people in densely urban slum areas. The goal is to create and improve the existing sanitation system, so that environmental pollution can be avoided.

It is known, Sanimas activities include the construction of toilet and toiletries (MCK) infrastructure, communal Wastewater Management Installation (IPAL) and Wastewater Management Installation (IPAL) combination with MCK and house connections (SR).

It is hoped that Pamsimas and Sanimas will set a good example for the adoption of World Water Council (WWC) member countries at the 10th World Water Forum in Bali.

"These two programs have proven to be able to open access to clean water, especially in villages and move many parties, especially the community," he added.

For your information, the 10th World Water Forum focuses on four things, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disaster.

A total of 244 sessions in the forum are expected to provide concrete results regarding the mainstreaming of integrated water management for small islands or Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) on Small Islands, the establishment of the center of excellence or the best practice for water and climate security or the Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience (COE), as well as the determination of World Lake Day.

The Indonesian government invited 43 ambassadors and four international organizations to participate and succeed in the 10th World Water Forum which will be held in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.
