Eid Al-Fitr Homecoming 2024, Garuda Affirms No Increase In Economic Class Tariffs

JAKARTA - President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, reiterated that there is no increase in ticket rates for the economy class plane prices of Garuda Indonesia and Citilink airlines during the 2024 Eid homecoming season.

This was emphasized in response to questions and anxiety from netizens who said the price of airplane tickets was very expensive, especially homecoming routes.

"So there is no increase in tariffs, Garuda Indonesia and Citilink have never raised economic class ticket rates since long ago," said Irfan Saturday, April 6.

He ensured that the airline's ticket prices had never gone up or exceeded the Upper Limit Tariff (TBA) in the last five years.

Irfan revealed that there were netizens and passengers who said there was a fantastic increase in tariffs due to Garuda-Citilink flights within 1 hour and 50 minutes of the Jakarta-Padang route, compared to transit flights up to 21 hours.

"Of course the price is different, because the price compared is transit flights traveling around the world for up to 21 hours, with Garuda-Citilink flights which are direct with a travel time of 1 hour 50 minutes," he explained.

There was admittedly an increase in tariffs, but only for business class passengers because of their high demand, but limited seats.

"Only business classes have increased, the economy has never increased for Garuda and Citilink," he said.

So, continued Irfan, if you want to compare the price, there are two things. First, judging from the class of business or economy. Second, the duration of flying is long or not because Garuda is direct for 1 hour.

"So, don't be angry just yet, look at the price if it goes up, it's a business class, the economy class doesn't go up," he said.

Garuda Indonesia and Citilink have prepared 1.4 million seats for Eid 2024 homecoming. This number also includes extra flights submitted to the aviation authority.

"From time to time we see an adequate increase, we hope that 1.4 million is more than sufficient," he explained.

Irfan revealed, when the Lebaran homecoming season arrives, the trend that occurs is that the majority of air transportation users are busy on tourist destination routes such as Bali and Surabaya for domestic and Singapore for international purposes.

"Indeed, in the last few years we have witnessed that not all of these Garuda go home partially from year to year, the number of passengers who have increased on vacation, because the holiday period is indeed long," explained Irfan.
