Minister Of Industry Agus Ensures The Stock Of Mamin Industry Raw Materials Is Safe During Ramadan

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) ensures that the availability of raw materials for the food and beverage (mamin) industry is safe for the next 1.5 months.

The raw materials for the food and beverage industry include sugar, cooking oil, wheat flour, corn and meat.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the stock of basic commodities for the production of processed foods and drinks could meet the needs during the momentum of Ramadan 2024.

"Likewise, bottled drinking water, which produces 32.6 billion liters per year, is able to meet the needs of the community of 32.5 billion liters per year," said Minister of Industry Agus in his official statement, quoted on Tuesday, March 26.

In addition to ensuring the supply of raw materials, Agus said that the government is trying to meet national food needs with alternative sources such as sago.

This is because sago has the potential to be developed as an alternative food for the national main source of carbohydrates.

"Because Indonesia owns sago land, it is estimated that it will reach 5.5 million hectares which has the potential to produce 34.3 million tons of sago starch," he said.

Agus assessed that sago processed products in the form of analog sago rice have the potential to become the main food to replace rice, especially during the scarcity of rice.

"Sagu analog rice also has an advantage in the form of high starch resistance and low index glycemic levels, so it is good to prevent diabetes," he said.

Not only sago, but the Ministry of Industry also introduced various other food and beverage industry products through the Lebaran Bazaar. The event also shows that the trend of demand for basic goods continues to increase.

To meet the needs of the community, in addition to maintaining stock availability in the market, Agus assessed the need for support with targeted distribution.
