JAKARTA - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan visited Tambun Market in Bekasi City, West Java. In the market, the Trade Minister bought eggs for visitors.

The minister, who is often called Zulhas, visited the seller of eggs in the market to ask about the price of the commodity during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri.

When he arrived at the place where the eggs were sold, he immediately greeted a number of buyers and bought them eggs.

Based on VOI's monitoring in the field, Zulhas immediately spent Rp. 200,000 and was given to traders.

"(This is for) six people, as many as a kilo, yes. The price of eggs is still IDR 32,000," said Zulhas at Tambun Market, Saturday, March 23.

Then, one of the buyers who was at the place where the eggs were sold expressed his gratitude to Zulhas.

"Alhamdulillah," he said.

One of the buyers did complain about the high price of eggs in the market today, especially ahead of the Eid al-Fitr momentum.

"It's still high (the price of eggs), it was Rp. 25,000-Rp. 26,000," he continued.

The egg seller named Aan (33) did confirm the statement of one of the buyers regarding the price of eggs which was quite high. "From before fasting, it has gone up," he said.

According to Aan, the current price of eggs is the highest compared to the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in the previous year. "Last year, Eid al-Fitr actually fell (the price of eggs) to Rp. 27,000-Rp. 28,000, because the price was reduced continuously," he said.

He admitted that he was surprised that currently the purchase of eggs in the market had decreased. However, the price is still quite high

"In the past, the price of eggs, right, look at the market is crowded, the price will definitely go up. Well, the market is quiet, the price will go down, usually, it's like that. Now consumption has dropped, prices are still rising," said Aan while laughing.

Even so, Aan ensures that the stock of eggs he has is in sufficient condition to date. "Our spending stock, really, is safe. Thank God (the stock) is safe," he added.
